Journaling is a fantastic and invaluable support tool thats been used for many years across many professions. It's a way to get your thoughts and feelings down on paper, to help you understand them better. You might think you know how you feel, but do you really know, that deep down, inside, the things that happen throughout the day affect your thoughts and feelings? You'll be surprised once you begin.
Journaling isn't always easy, and a lot of people don't know where to start. What do you write? How do you begin? When do you journal?
There are no right or wrong answers, it's entirely up to you, whenever you can fit it in during your day. It's probably most popular at the end of the day, when people write about what has happened and how it made them feel. I like to start my day with journaling, so I can work out how I feel and make some changes to my day as it happens.
This is why I wrote Three Little Words. To help you begin your journaling journey, so you have a direction for your thoughts and feelings, to bring inspiration and some reassurance that you're going the right way.
Open the book at any page (you can go in the order it's written) and read that passage. Sit for a while and think about how that passage made you feel. What thoughts, feelings and memories come to mind? Then put pen to paper and let them all out.
Some like to write a diary entry, some like to write it as a letter ( to yourself, your grandmother or a friend that you know would listen). It never gets sent - unless you want it to - it's just a way to get you writing.
You can write as much as you like, or just a few words, you can bullet point them or even write an essay. That part is up to you or how you are feeling on that day.
When you are done, in the top corner of the journal entry, put an emoticon that resembles your feelings of that day. So when you flick back at a later time, you can see if they have improved, and if you are starting to feel more positive.
You can sign off as a letter, or just stop writing when you are done.
I hope this has given you a little insight to the world of journaling and how my book can help you.
